Lost Boys of Sudan

There are several difficulties that Santino faced during the assimilating of the American culture. When Satino first arrived in America, he had to learn English in order to survive. During his days spent in America, Satino had big miss-communications with the American's which made it very difficult for Satino. Satino had a hard time at his job because he was very slow and didn't quite understand what to do. He followed his peers and slowly learned what to do and towards the end of the year, he was very fast and efficient. Satino also had big difficulties interacting with Americans. Some would stare at him because he was really black compared to other African Americans. Also some people were scared of him because white people tend to think all black people are dangerous. The first few days that he stayed in Houston Texas he realized that America was all about money. Money was very precious in America and money is what keeps America going. The first few weeks Santino lived in America, he had trouble with money because he had to pay the rent for the house and his job gives him very little money per hour. He encountered some problems with money, for example the time when he had to pay for 3 traffic tickets when he was driving the car. Another problem Santino faced was when he had lack of communication with the Americans. His land lord claimed that they never received any money from Santino for the rental of the apartment he was living in.

Satino dealt with these problem by learning from his mistakes and accepting the fact that they had adjust to the American culture. He had to learn about the rules that the American society runs. For example like driving a car and learning that he had to prove with a receipt or evidence that support what he or the person is stating.
Satino had to manage his money and use it wisely for his own good. Satino was able to adjust the cultural division because he made friends along the way which helped him. Through some experiences Satino was able to learn from his mistake understanding more about the culture of America.
